Inventory and recon

What is recon?

Also called: reconditioning

Recon is everything you spend to make a bought car frontline ready: mechanical repair, tires, body and paint, and detail.

Recon is where per-car profit is usually lost, because the parts invoice arrives a week after the labor and neither gets posted to the VIN. Money that lands in a general shop-supplies account has quietly left your margin.

Recon time matters as much as recon cost. Every day the car waits for a part is a day of floorplan interest and a day closer to the price drop.
